Daddy's Sweetheart

B did the cutest thing yesterday morning . . . she woke up and was very excited that Craig was still here. Sometimes we get up before he leaves for school, sometimes not. On Fridays he doesn't have class til the afternoon so he gets to sleep in. So B was very happy to see him and ran in to "cuddle Daddy". After a few minutes he got up and B ran in again, jumped into his arms, gave him a big hug, and said, "I like you, Daddy". We just thought it was the cutest thing! She says, "I love you" all the time, but this was a new one. So sweet.

Have you ever . . .

walked out of the bathroom after a bath to find your bra that was hang-drying in the hall riding in your toddler's playskool bus? I have!

Finger Painting

Okay so a lot of the time I post Carolyn's latest shenannigans on Face Book, but this one is a little long and just wouldn't be the same if I shortened it.

This evening I was reading and Craig was watching tv in the living room, and B went into the kitchen. She stayed in there and was being quiet and happy, so Craig was suspicious and asked her what she was doing. She said, "ABC's". Innocent enough, so we said ok. A few minutes passed and I was wondering what was going on so I called to her and asked her if she was being a good girl. "Yeah" was her reply. A few more minutes passed, she was still quiet and happy, and Craig decided he just didn't buy it and went in there to see what if anything was going on. She had grabbed all but 1 tbsp of a cube of room temperature butter and used it to finger paint the floor in addition to one cupboard and drawer. Butter is really, REALLY hard to clean off of hard surfaces. I wiped it up AND mopped it, and still 2 hours later she came running through the kitchen and slipped on the floor. Sigh.

I love my precocious 2-yr-old!

Dear Pregnancy

Dear Pregnancy,

I have to say I'm a little peeved at you right now. You advertise that part of your condition includes bigger boobs. My boobs have not grown, not even a little bit. I was hoping the first time was just a fluke, but now that I'm on my second time through I'm beginning to think you are just holding out on me. You have followed through just fine on all of the other advertised side-effects . . . nausea, fatigue, bloating, constipation, sleep issues, breast tenderness, cravings, baby brain, cramps, gas, back pain, acne, hemmorhoids . . . couldn't I just get the one I want in addition to all the others? Please?

Love,

Megan

New words

Here are some new words for B today: quesadilla, rocketeer, and mortician. Quesadilla 'cause she had one for lunch, rocketeer off a trivia card, and Craig made her say mortician . . . not sure what inspired that one haha. In any case it is so funny and cute hearing her sound like such a big girl!

A busy and fun Halloween!

After a morning of relaxing and tidying up, we carved our pumpkin! With B next to it, you can get an idea of the size of the thing.

After naps, we went trick-or-treating downtown. It has become a huge community event that everyone gets really excited about. All the shops and restaurants in the historic downtown area hand out candy, and many of the workers dress up and decorate their various establishments. It is also done in daylight hours, which is very nice for wee ones.

At 6:30 we went over to Wilsons for a Halloween party. We lit our jack-o-lantern before we left and handed out some candy.

It is so nice to live so close to ward members! Carolyn and Luke Wilson play so well together, and there were tons of other kiddos there as well so she had a ball. With the kids entertaining themselves, that gave the adults the opportunity to visit and enjoy some pretty amazing eats. Bekah made caramel sauce from scratch for apples - by far the best I have ever had! She also made "witches' brew" (hot caramel apple cider), and caramel corn. We stayed til about 8 and it was a lot of fun. It was a very exciting day, and by the end of it B was pretty wiped out. So she was in bed by 9. All in all a fun day!
