Holiday Happenings

We had a very busy month! After finals were over we waited for a break in the weather to go to Boise for a pre-Christmas celebration at Mom's. We were there from the 17th to the 22nd (again, choosing to travel when the roads were the best). We made a couple of trips to the mall, got her Christmas picture taken at Kiddie Kandids, got her picture taken with Santa, and walked around a lot. The mall is decorated so beautifully for Christmas, and I just love having a warm place to walk. We made and ate lots of Christmas goodies, exchanged some presents, and just hung out a lot.

Carolyn started having a fever a couple of days before we left but it was easily controlled with childrens' motrin/ tylenol. By the time we left we were alternating - one every couple of hours. She had a really hard time with the elevation changes over the blue mountains even with her pain meds and a binki so I could tell her ears were really hurting. I figured we could probably wait til the next day to get her into the pediatrician, but her fever spiked really high that night (103.6 at home with motrin), and we took her to the ER where it read 103.9. We stripped her down, they gave her some tylenol in addition to the mortin she already had, and waited. After an hour it had gone back down below 103 so they sent us home with some amoxicillin. Poor B :(. We all slept pretty late on the 23rd after that whole ordeal (other than me getting up every couple of hours to try to give her more meds to keep her fever down). So the 23rd and 24th are pretty blurry to me. I wrapped a lot of presents and spent a lot of time in and out of the pediatrician's office on top of normal pre-Christmas errands, and of course spent a lot of time cuddling my sick girl.

We didn't realize how complicated her gift from Santa was, so we were up til 3:30 or 4 Christmas Eve haha (I will post pics soon). Christmas morning we got up, opened presents, had some breakfast, then got ready and drove to Renton where we saw Craig's aunts/uncles/cousins, grandparents, and later his Mom. It was a lot of fun, B adored them, and we headed back that night.

After a few days at home relaxing, on the 30th we went to the Leethams' house again in the Portland/Vancouver area for New Year's Eve (we had been there for Thanksgiving too). It was a short trip filled with lots of games and goodies. Dan, Jessica, and Truxton joined us for New Year's Eve and we all ate way too much and had a lot of fun. It was really nice to be able to celebrate with them. It's even nicer that with the 3 of us living in the same state now, we can pretty easily get together for any holiday we want!

We had good roads with each trip, for which we are very thankful. It was a lot of traveling in such a short time, but with one child it's still relatively easy to do that so it's probably good that we are taking advantage of it while we can!!!

Sounds like you had a lot of fun. That is cool you got to see so much family. It was sure different for us this year as well being around family. Glad you got pictures of Carolyn before Kiddie Kandids closed. :)
